We’re busy messing about with Squarespace templates right now so this this site is currently a bit pants…

So what is ‘Smarty Pants’?

We’re a unique cultural strategy consultancy with deep expertise in the space where LGBTQIA+ culture and the creative industries meet.

Founded in 2018 by Marty Davies (they/she). She was named one of Campaign’s Future Leaders 2022 and one of Campaign’s Trailblazers in 2023. Marty was also “highly commended” in the Business Trailblazer category at PinkNews Awards 2023 and Change-maker category at the MEFA awards for their work driving LGBTQIA+ representation and inclusion within the ad industry.

Their consultancy is often sought out for projects that need to get LGBTQIA+ inclusion right.

Marty guides and collaborates with brands, agencies and their people to connect meaningfully with queer culture. This often takes shape with keynotes, project consultancy & workshops.

Her network spans the LGBTQIA+ nonprofit sector, inclusion experts and creative industry professionals. Working with Smarty Pants gives brands unique insight into the sector and a network of specialist consultants can be fielded for specific projects.

And the name? Marty’s mum would call them it when she was a kid and it’s sort of stuck.

What can you help with?

We have been sought out to support with these needs:

“I need to improve representation of LGBTQIA+ people in the marketing output”

“I need help to build a purpose-led movement”

“I need to make my product and service experience inclusive of the LGBTQIA+ community”

“I need to improve inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people in the workplace”

Who have you worked with?

Just Eat Takeaway, GoCompare, MINI, Talk Talk, Virgin Media, Google,
Lush Cosmetics, ScottishPower, Visa Europe, RNLI, Hilton, Universal Music, TikTok, Reddit and many more…

Are you any good?

Marty has helped to deliver over €130m in incremental revenue for clients over the past 6 years. And that’s just what we’ve been able to measure.

Created the global community and movement ‘Trans+ History Week

And she’s steered the agenda on LGBTQIA+ representation in advertising through her Campaign column, by leading the industry’s advocacy org, Outvertising, and by creating the community group Trans+ Adland.

Marty was recognised on Campaign’s A List 2024 and on the DIVA’s Power List 2024 in recognition of this.

I have a project, what next?

We take on projects of all sizes, from curated talks, a couple of days of consultancy through to bigger extended projects and retainer clients.

Marty calls herself the Proud Attention Seeker - helping brands to attract the right attention for their queer advocacy.

She is a renowned and sought after expert in the space where LGBTQIA+ culture meets the creative industries and attention economy. Guiding and collaborating with brands and their people to connect meaningfully with queer culture.

She is a prolific writer. Her words have been featured in Forbes, Fortune, GayTimes and Attitude. And her column for global business magazine, Campaign, is noted for its provocative and refreshingly honest look at the advertising industry.
